Aether Story Blends Retro JRPG's With Modern MMORPG Elements

Aether Story is an upcoming indie 2D MMORPG that aims to blend old-school JRPG gameplay and visuals with elements from modern MMOs. Think Final Fantasy IV with lots of players, a party system, group dungeons, and an open-class system.

“Aether Story is my nostalgic MMO from the glory days of classic 2-D JRPGs,” said developer Phanxgames. “I believe that the creative blending of what appears to be the standard JRPG turn-based combat is actually mechanically more like real-time MMO combat.”
