Albion Online developer Sandbox Interactive is planning something big for the open-world fantasy MMORPG in next month’s Lands Awakened update. The update will feature a complete overhaul of the game’s 15 biomes and sub-biomes not only to make them look better but to also make each biome more unique and make travelling through them much more enjoyable.

Map layouts will also be getting an overhaul as the team feels that they’re too cluttered and generic. “We've challenged ourselves to completely rework all the open-world layouts of Albion Online, with the following two goals: Make navigation through the world more intuitive and enjoyable [and] allow players with different playstyles to use map layouts to their advantage,” the team explained.

“More specifically, these goals will be implemented in the following ways: Improving clarity of maps, reducing random cluttering elements, finding memorable themes for maps that are easy to remember and quick to read [and] adding strategic choke points via new terrain designs that feel natural within each biome,” they added.

Guild Hideouts affected by the changes will be placed as close as possible to their original locations. Guilds will also have the opportunity to move their Hideouts once within the same zone for a limited time after the changes roll out.

Sandbox Interactive also teased new music, improved open-world rewards, and new open-world PvE and PvP features coming in the update. More on that coming soon.

Lands Awakened is scheduled for release in the second half of November. Check out the video below for more info on the upcoming update courtesy of Game Director Robin Henkys.
