Monster Hunter: World Overview
The fifth installment in the mainline Monster Hunter franchise, MH:W and the first to be released on the PS4/XB1/PC platforms. It will also be the first to allow region free online play with up to 4 players in co-op mode. Monster Hunter: World represents a massive improvement in graphics for the series, and brings with it a ton of quality of life changes. Despite these changes the core gameplay formula remains the same, with all 14 weapon types from Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter Generations coming to MH:W.

Development History / Background:
Monster Hunter: World was first announced at E3 2017 during Sony's press conference on June 12. The game marks a first for the now 10+ year old Monster Hunter franchise. It will be the first mainline game to see a PC release, the first to have an open world format, and the first to support global servers for co-op rather than regional support. Capcom, the Japanese studio behind the game, stated that they adopted a more open world format along with quality of life changes to better appeal to Western gamers and to take the franchise more global.
The game launched on Steam for the PC on August 9, 2018.
