Diablo 4’s sixth season, Season of Hatred Rising, is bringing a tidal wave of new content and features when it launches on October 7. Alongside the highly anticipated Vessel of Hatred expansion, this season is set to crank the intensity with its blend of demon-hunting madness and new loot mechanics.

So, what’s the hook this season? In true Diablo fashion, it’s all about taking down bigger, badder demons for even juicier rewards. Players will find themselves chasing after massive portal-carrying demons known as Realmwalkers, which pop up every 15 minutes in the open world. Taking one of these bad boys down opens a portal to a Seething Realm dungeon, where you can hunt for treasure and snag new Seething Opal potions that boost XP and item drop rates. Basically, it’s a loot-lover’s dream come true.

Blizzard has also promised sweeping changes to Diablo 4’s core systems. For starters, the level cap is getting a trim, dropping from 100 to 60, with Paragon Points now earned post-60 to streamline progression. Add to that some serious stat squishing, new difficulty levels, and a raft of class balance updates, and it looks like Blizzard is shaking things up in a big way.

Blizzard emphasized their goal to enrich the leveling experience in Diablo 4 and make each playthrough feel fresh. As they put it in a recent developer update, “We want players to feel a sense of excitement and growth with each run. Season of Hatred Rising delivers that in spades.”

Players who pick up Vessel of Hatred will also get exclusive access to a brand-new campaign, the spooky Kurast Undercity dungeon, the spiritborn class, and some fresh runeword systems. Mercenary companions will also be returning to the online ARPG, ready to fight by your side once again.
