Pearl Abyss Unveils Agent Class and Sweeping Updates at Heidel Ball 2026
Pearl Abyss confirmed the next class for its free-to-play MMORPG Black Desert Online at the Heidel Ball 2026 event in Los Angeles - the Agent, a revolver-wielding gunman and the 33rd class in the game's roster, alongside a full slate of content updates headlined by Edania Part II.
Agent is the brother of existing class Deadeye, sharing her revolver-and-bullets DNA but built around a distinctly different combat identity: slower, harder-hitting shots, grenade use, and a special weapon called the Hexround that substitutes area damage for the magic-based toolkit most classes lean on. Pearl Abyss described the design intent as controlled area dominance rather than Deadeye's run-and-gun aggression. Agent launches with both Succession and Awakening paths - no Ascension variant - which reportedly drew one of the louder reactions from the live audience.

Agent releases in Korea on July 29th, globally on PC July 30th, and on console August 6th. Pearl Abyss also confirmed a structural shift in class cadence: one new class per year going forward, with Succession variants arriving in summer and Awakening in winter, explicitly to allow more balance tuning time between releases.
Edania Part II and the Content Rollout
Edania Part II opens up Inner Edania across three phases, running from July 29th through September 19th, with seven bosses total - including Hadum as the final encounter - split between solo and party monster zones. Two new accessories are tied to the region: the Ekleta Accessory, which cannot be market-listed, and the craftable Apeiron, which shares Ekleta's stats but can be sold on the central market. New Life Artifacts, dyes, and the Godslayer's Armor outfit round out the reward pool.

The rest of the Heidel Ball slate covers a significant amount of ground, from system overhauls to infrastructure improvements:
- Level cap revamp: The cap raises to 75 in two phases - 70 on August 12th, 75 on October 7th - ending Black Desert's long-standing soft-cap structure where XP scaling made progression past 66 impractical for most players.
- Hyperboost: A new catch-up system designed to compress roughly 40 days of standard progression into approximately four days, launching alongside Agent later this month.
- Family Dispatch: Lets players assign secondary characters to autonomous tasks - fishing, processing, and similar life-skill work - while the main character is active elsewhere. Arriving in November.
- Guild Fame: A new guild progression system adding daily missions, guild-wide bonuses, and PvP war declaration mechanics, launching August 5th.
- Life skill gear unification: All Family life gear consolidated under a refined UI with gear set support, live September 2nd.
- Graphics upgrades: DLSS added to PC; FSR updated to 3.1 for consoles in August, FSR 4 on PC in September.
- Console server migration: Servers moving to a central North America location in Chicago in August.
- Great Ocean content: The sea creature Lyngbakr - a swarm-type encounter rather than a singular boss - arrives August 26th alongside Chongsa Island and new ship crafting recipes.
- Marni's Combat Analyzer: An in-game damage tracking tool with manual start/stop, accompanying Edania Part II's rollout.
The Hyperboost system is the sharpest signal of where Pearl Abyss's priorities sit heading into Black Desert's second decade - compressing onboarding friction this aggressively suggests the studio is treating new and returning player conversion as a growth lever, not just a courtesy feature. How that interacts with the level cap restructure and existing gear progression will be worth watching in the weeks after Agent's global launch.
The next concrete milestone is Agent's PC global release on July 30th, with Edania Part II's first phase - the Sulfur Golem Monster Zone - opening the same day in Korea and July 30th globally.
