Airship Builders Face New Hazards in Echoes of Elysium
Loric Games and Snail Games USA have deployed Tempest, a major update for their early access airship survival and crafting title Echoes of Elysium. The update introduces dynamic weather, with rain and wind affecting ship construction and navigation in the skies of Elysium.
Rain is no longer purely visual. Water can accumulate on ships, adding weight and increasing drag, while some onboard installations can temporarily stop working until they dry out after a storm. The system makes protection and load management more important when planning an airship.
- Dynamic rain: Water adds weight to airships, increases drag, and can disable some installations until the storm passes.
- Biome-specific weather: Each biome has its own weather rhythm, so conditions vary depending on where players are flying.
- Stronger wind systems: Traveling against the wind is more demanding, placing greater emphasis on propulsion choices.
- Balance changes: Sails, thrusters, and overall ship mass have been reworked for the new weather variables.
- Updated load UI: A live encumbrance gauge shows how a build affects total ship weight, alongside more detailed tooltips.
- Ground resource fix: Resource generation issues on the ground have been corrected.
- Audio adjustment: The overall soundscape has received an adjustment.
Echoes of Elysium lets players design flying ships that serve as mobile bases, transport, and combat platforms while exploring a floating archipelago. Players can face mechanical creatures alone or in co-op with up to six players.
With Tempest, ship preparation must account for changing conditions as well as a vessel's weight, sails, and thrusters. The update adds weather as another factor in how players build and pilot their airships.
