As a studio, Motiga was founded in 2010 by partners Chris Chung and Rick Lambright. Official development of its first project, Gigantic, began in 2012, with heavyweight James Phinney (most notably Lead Designer for Starcraft and Guild Wars) taking the role of Vice President of Product Development.

Gigantic is a zany, colourful, fast-paced MOBA title, slated for release on PC and Xbox One. As Motiga's first endeavor, the studio has encountered many unfortunate difficulties during the development of Gigantic.

In 2015, Motiga announced that it would be partnering with Microsoft to release Gigantic as a Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusive later that year. However this partnership was shortlived, as Gigantic's release date was pushed back to 2016, and a round of studio layoffs ensued.

In May of 2016, Motiga then announced it was partnering with Perfect World Entertainment for Gigantic's official launch. With the new partnership deal in place, it was revealed that Gigantic would be made available across all PC platforms, though it would still also be playable on Xbox One.
