There seems to be no shortage of 2D roguelite games these days as another one appears on our radar. Asmodee Digital and Doom Turtle have announced a new entry into the genre, a 16-bit retro hack and slash game called Ember Knights that’s headed to Steam Early Access next month.

“Featuring a retro pixel-art universe, Ember Knights will immerge players into a fiery 16-bit adventure. Legendary warriors can fight their way through the levels solo or with up to three friends, defeating hordes of enemies, ranging from specters to sorcerers. Adapting their playstyle to each encounter will be the key to emerging victorious.”

The game promises dozens of skills, weapons, and relics that players will be able to mix and match to create hundreds of combat builds to match their preferred playstyle. New weapons, relics, and skills will be added throughout Early Access along with new enemies, bosses, and maps. Players will have the option to play solo or in online and local co-op with up to three other players.

“Ember Knights is an action rogue-lite for 1-4 players where you play as legendary knights, the last spark of hope against the mad sorcerer Praxis and his hordes of unwavering fiends. Wield weapons & skills, build synergies with game-changing relics and free the universe of Praxis’ corruption.”

The game will be launching on Steam on April 20th with a $14.99 price tag. The game will support keyboard and mouse controls although the developers recommend using a controller for the optimal experience.
