The vast sandbox world of Albion Online can be a bit overwhelming for new players with hundreds of zones spread across two massive continents. Being a free-for-all PvP MMORPG, the wide world of Albion can also be extremely dangerous, especially if you suddenly find yourself somewhere you’re not supposed to be.

To help new players find their bearings developer Sandbox Interactive has published a brief guide on the game’s two major continents, the different biomes the make them up, as well as the different towns, cities, and parallel realms that you’ll be able to explore. For the uninitiated, its best to stick to The Royal Continent until you’re ready to face other players in the full-loot, always-hostile zone called The Outlands.

All of the relatively safe starter towns and royal cities can be found on The Royal Continent. The continent itself is divided into five distinct biomes with one Royal City each. The main city of Caerleon can be found at the heart of the continent.

The Outlands, on the other hand, is one big PvP zone where players are free to attack other players without losing reputation points. It’s also where most guild battles take place as they fight over territories and bases called Hideouts.

During your adventures, you’ll also come across portals that will take you to either The Roads of Avalon or The Mists which are alternate realms that offer better loot but are also free-for-all PvP zones.

To get around Albion, you can either hoof it out on foot or atop your trusty mount. There’s also a fast travel option that will take you to specific destinations in the game world. It’s free if you’re not carrying anything with you but gets exponentially more expensive with each additional item in your inventory. Each of the five Royal Cities also has a portal which will instantly transport you to a different part of The Outlands when you’re finally ready to take part in unflagged PvP.

If you’re new to the game and feeling a little lost or if you’re thinking about jumping in for the first time, the guide is well worth a read. Or, you can just dive right in, devil-may-care. In any case, you’ll find the full guide on the Albion Online official site. You can also learn more about the game’s Potions and Alchemy system here.
