Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Confirms the Banhammer

A year after the infamous bans of several members of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team "iBUYPOWER," Valve has come to a verdict to determine the fate of affected players for accused competitive matchfixing. In order to maintain the integrity of competitive play it seems that Valve has decided on the highest levels of punishment for the affected players:

Duc “cud” Pham
Derek “dboorn” Boorn
Casey Foster
Sam “Dazed” Marine
Braxton “swag” Pierce
Keven “AZK” Larivière
Joshua “Steel” Nissan

The players of iBUYPOWER along with NetCodeGuides founder Casey Foster have received permanently banned from any Valve-sponsored events, effectively ending any semblance of a career that the players could seek. Perhaps this move was to make an example of the players so that this would not occur again. While many might view the punishment as overly harsh—the players in question have betrayed their fans in order to make a quick buck.
