Ultima Online: New Legacy Finally Gets a Release Date Of October 15
After years of anticipation (and a few delays that left fans nervously tapping their swords), Ultima Online: New Legacy finally has a release date! Broadsword announced that the first season of this new alternative ruleset server will launch on October 15, 2024. Players can dive into the revamped world of Ultima Online starting at noon ET on launch day, ready to forge their own legacies.
If you’ve been following New Legacy’s development, you know the road’s been a bit bumpy. Originally teased back in 2020, the sandpark-style reimagining of the grandfather of MMORPG’s has been hit with multiple delays. It was supposed to go live in September to coincide with Ultima Online’s 27th anniversary, but, well, that didn’t quite happen. Now, it seems like Broadsword’s finally pulling the trigger—just a couple of weeks later than expected.
As for what players can expect, New Legacy is designed to offer a streamlined, seasonal experience with a fresh start for both new and returning players. Expect a revamped world with simplified systems, designed to be more accessible while retaining the depth that Ultima Online is known for.
