Ethyrial: Echoes Of Yore Reels From Negative Reviews Following Game-Breaking Reset

Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore is still in pretty bad shape after Gellyberry Studios inadvertently broke the game when they wiped the servers clean. A whole host of issues popped up after the reset, including a character level exploit, a mob attack range exploit, disappearing items, problematic NPCs, and players getting stuck, just to name a few.

Unsurprisingly, players took to Steam to voice their disappointments over the “unfinished” state of the game, ultimately causing Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore to slip into the “Mostly Negative” reviews spectrum on the platform. The flood of negative reviews was apparently too much for the game’s lead developer, who promptly announced his “partial” withdrawal from the project.

Meanwhile, the team has been frantically rolling out hotfix after hotfix to address the issues. Over the past few weeks, they’ve managed to crush various bugs, fix things that needed fixing, updated loot, and even managed to apply balance tweaks to various monsters and player abilities. The team also reports that they’ve identified the underlying cause of a lag issue that allowed players to dupe items or cause items to disappear.

Despite Gellyberry Studios’ efforts, it looks like the game is going to have a hard time recovering from the avalanche of negative reviews it received since its launch. The game’s official Discord isn’t looking too good either as players threaten to end their subscriptions along with calls to pull the game back into alpha for more work and polish.
