Guild Wars 2 Reveals Action Camera Mode

ArenaNet's upcoming expansion for Guild Wars 2, Heart of Thorns, has revealed a new feature expansion: Action Camera Mode. According to the article on the official website, Action Camera mode draws inspiration from shooters, single-player first person RPGs and other MMOs (take TERA for example). The goal of the new mode is to enter the action RPG space, and to give players a more immersive feeling— connecting players with their characters.

The new mode will feature a crosshair and skills will fire at it and will also change to give players an idea of what state the target is in (if it is out of range etc.). Since the new mode frees up the use of the left mouse button, which is currently used for free-camera mouse look, players will be able to use it to instead activate their first skill. From first-hand experience I can imagine this being a great change.. as spamming the 1 key while also rotating the mouse felt unintuitive and put strain on my hands.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns arrives in only 3 days and you can check out the article for the full details here.
