Hellbreach: Vegas Might Just Fill The Gaping Hole Left Behind By Left 4 Dead 2

Hellbreach: Vegas is a new co-op horror shooter that might just be the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead 2 that we’ve all been waiting for. It just launched into Steam Early Access and is being developed by the one-man Infinity Ape Studios.

The main game mode follows the same format as L4D2’s co-op campaign, pitting a team of up to four players against hordes of vicious Nordic demons that have overrun the gaudy casinos and streets of Las Vegas. You’ll earn money after each increasingly difficult round that you can use to unlock new weapons or upgrade existing ones. In true Vegas fashion, you’ll also be able to participate in a slots game to earn new weapons, power-ups, and cosmetics.

Another game mode takes a page from Counter-Strike’s gun game mode and challenges you to kill 10 zombies to unlock a new weapon that will replace your existing one. Rinse and repeat until you’ve worked your way through the entire list of weapons. The first player to do so wins the match.

Hellbreach: Vegas has received mixed reviews on Steam since it came out earlier today, with most complaints aimed at its janky animations, over the top player bobbing, and lack of weapon variety. If you’re still interested, you can grab the game for $8.99 until March 23, at which point it will revert to its original box price of $9.99.
