Prior to New World’s official launch in September 2021, it spent what felt like ages in beta testing. Just when it looked like it was ready for launch, it was pulled back multiple times for more development and testing. Well, Amazon Game Studios is taking another crack at it as it kicks off open beta testing for New World: Aeternum with full crossplay between PC and console players. Now you can finally battle it out in Aeternum with your friends, regardless of what platform you’re on.

For the open beta test, Amazon says that they’re doubling down on making New World a more refined experience. Despite what they said about steering away from the MMORPG label, Aeternum still feels like an MMORPG at its core, complete with large-scale PvP battles, crafting, and endless exploration. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the cursed island, this open beta is your chance to dive in and explore the rebooted and updated world.

“We’re focused on making Aeternum the best experience possible,” Amazon says in their announcement. “This is your chance to shape the future of New World.”
