Lineage 2 Classic Is Almost Upon Us, Europe Exclusive

While I am not personally familiar with the earlier days of Lineage 2, I often see players bemoan changes made to the game, calling the earlier version one of the definitive PvP MMORPGs. Announced some time ago, 4Game, the game's European publisher, want to bring players that experience once again, hence Lineage 2 Classic. The good news announced today is that it may be coming sooner than you think.

4Game plan to open pre-orders for Lineage 2 Classic this fall. Yes, much like the original incarnation, Lineage 2 Classic will be a game with a box fee. Furthermore, it will be a subscription game, foregoing the modern free-to-play environment that the current incarnation has adopted.

There is some bad news, though. It won't be available for North American or South American players. I suspect this means that they are planning to go so far as IP blocking but I can't say for sure. Sadly, it seems that fans outside of Europe will have to wait just a bit longer to see if NCSoft plan to do anything similar. It will likely depend on the success of this effort which, due to having a box fee and a subscription, will likely end up with similar results to that of Allods' pay-to-play server. No matter, we won't have to wait much longer to find out.
