Lord of the Rings Online Adds Top Tier Gear to Lockboxes, Players Understandably Frustrated

Lord of the Rings Online is potentially heading down a very dark path. I speak, of course, of the path of "Pay-2-Win" and "Gachas." (Gachas are the Eastern term for lootboxes that contain gameplay-altering items). Nexon games, speaking specifically of Vindictus, are well-known for putting high-tier equipment, or items that are used to make high-tier equipment, in lootboxes that require paid keys to open. To say this has caused a bit of anger in their community is an understatement.

These new lootboxes aren't in the game yet, and are only on LotR Online's Test Server. It isn't too late to reverse this change, and prevent it from going live. Traditionally, once more and more pay-to-win elements are introduced into a game, it goes very downhill. Understandably, the concept of gacha boxes can be tantalizing to developers, but it tends to sacrifice having a strong playerbase in exchange for a very small group of people spending a lot of money on these lootboxes. I personally hope Lord of the Rings Online reconsiders these lootboxes.

Now pardon me, as I go back to playing Fate/Grand Order.
