Earlier this week, Hello Games founder Sean Murray posted another cryptic tweet which No Man’s Sky players have come to recognize as a sign that another update was on the way. That update has now landed on the live servers, bringing with it a whole host of new features and improvements including completely revamped space stations, fully customizable starships, and fleet missions.

“Dock your fully customised starship in the sleek new space stations of update 4.6, Orbital,” Hello Games announced. “Space stations have been completely overhauled; brand new starships can be constructed from salvaged parts; frigate fleets can request intervention with interstellar expeditions; trading, standing and guilds have been improved – and much more!”

Space stations have now been redesigned and expanded to offer a fresh new experience not only visually, but functionally as well. In addition to new system-specific designs, they now come with more nooks and crannies to explore and allows players to more efficiently and intuitively access shops and technical equipment.

“Space Station interiors are now procedurally generated and vary dramatically from station to station,” the studio explained. “A huge range of different designs are waiting to be found, as well as a wide array of atmospheric and lighting arrangements.”

The Orbital update also introduced new starships that can be crafted from salvaged parts and the ability to offer other players assistance or call for backup during interstellar expeditions. Players can also look forward to better-looking screen space reflections, better guild rewards, and various UI improvements.
