Hello Games sheds light on its founder Sean Murray’s cryptic tweet earlier this week as the latest No Man’s Sky update lands on the live servers, featuring the new Omega expedition. Looking back, it doesn’t seem that cryptic now does it? But as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

To give everyone a chance to experience No Man’s Sky and its new update for themselves, the multiplayer sci-fi survival game is now free-to-play until Monday, February 19 at 10 a.m. PST. No restrictions, no commitments, and no questions asked. February 19 just so happens to be a holiday in the US which will hopefully translate to more free trial players.

“[…] The entire Omega expedition will be open to everyone, entirely for free, even if you don’t own No Man’s Sky! This is the best time for players old and new to come together and explore the universe,” Hello Games announced.

In addition to the new expedition, the update also introduced the sleek new hover-capable Starborn Runner starship, the ability to board and claim defeated pirate capital ships, new planetary missions, new lootable items and gear, jetpacks, a revamped Atlas Path mission, and various quality-of-life improvements.
