Overwatch 2 Patches In SMS Protect And Various Fixes Alongside A New Animated Short

Overwatch 2 players are no longer required to set up two-factor authentication to play the game following last night’s patch that effectively disabled the recently added and extremely unpopular SMS Protect feature. Note that this only applies to veteran Overwatch players, including those who’ve played since June 9, 2021.

Blizzard has also patched in fixes for known issues related to logins, account merging issues, and the new-player experience. The player database has also been upgraded to help alleviate queues and prevent it from getting backed up with the flood of players trying to log in.
