Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Public Multiplayer Beta Begins Today

If you want to get a taste of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2's improved warfare before the launch next month, you can do so starting today. A "Public Multiplayer Beta" will be open to everyone, whether they've pre-ordered or not, from later today until the 18th. There's just one caveat—it will only be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

If you have a PS4 or Xbox One, you will be treated to several new additions to the series. Six new playable classes are being made available during the Beta. The Backyard Battleground will be available in limited form, giving you access to an ever-changing battlefield that links all of the game's maps. The Backyard Battleground is meant to "[immerse you] in a wild playground full of dynamic events." Four new maps, including Moon Base Z and Frosty Creek, will be available to play on.

The Beta hasn't quite launched yet. It will likely open around 3 or 4 PM EST, as that is when the PlayStation Store usually updates. We will update this post with links when it goes live.
