PlayerUnknown's BATTLEGROUNDS Exits Early Access, Goes Live with Version 1.0

Lets not kid ourselves here - PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is the butt of many jokes for being buggy, unoptimized, and at times, hard to play - most notably at the start of matches, when all 100 players are running around and looking for weapons to kill each other with.

Despite its technical hitches, the people at Bluehole have decided that PUBG is in enough of a state where they are proud to say their game can be in an "official release" status. With version 1.0, a list of changes come to the game - lets check them out down below.

  • Optimized terrain data, textures, and characters to reduce memory usage
  • Optimzed the waters with reduced wave effects
  • Reduced lag when multiple players are in sight
  • Character animations have been optimized
  • LODs have been added for further optimization
  • World effects optimized
  • UI elements optimized
  • Reduced the lag when loading terrain, and decreased terrain loading time.

In short - the game should run much smoother now. Addtionally,

  • Lobby background and UI has been redesigned, and Replays have been added
  • A new map has been added - Miramar
    • Two weather types, Clear and Sunrise
  • Which map is played - Erangel or Miramar - is randomly selected
  • Rainy and foggy weather has been removed from Erangel
  • Five new weapons added
    • DP-28, Erangel exclusive. 47-round 7.62mm magazine, and red dot, holographic, and 4x scopes can be attached.
    • AUG A3 added. 30-round 5.56mm magazine, only available in care packages
    • R45, Miramar exclusive. Spawns in world, .45 ACP ammo, 6 bullets can be loaded. High accuracy, and faster reload speed than the R1895
    • Win94, Miramar exclusive. Lever-action rifle that uses .45 ACP ammo, and 8 bullets can be loaded
    • Sawed-Off, Miramar exclusive. 12 gauge shot, and 2 shells can be loaded.
  • New Ghillie suit added to care packages
  • R1895 will not spawn in Miramar
  • Kar98k will no longer be included in care packages.
  • Ballistics have been overhauled
    • Air drag is now factored into fired bullets
    • Hit areas have been modified - neck is protected by helmet, damage to the chest is increased
    • Base damage now varies based on weapon class
