Tarisland clearly didn’t get the memo when Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street argued that MMOs should embrace slower, more meaningful leveling. Instead, the game is going full throttle with its new Full Level Racing speed-leveling event, and it’s all about racing to max level faster than a Goblin’s gold rush.

Tencent is challenging the free-to-play MMORPG’s players to hit level 40 in the shortest time possible. And we’re not talking a casual jog through the game’s lush landscapes—this is a full-blown sprint. You’ll have to record your entire leveling journey though as the studio will be using footage from the top three speedrunners to showcase how fast players can level up their alternate characters in the game’s latest version. So, if you’ve got a knack for efficient grinding, now’s your time to shine.

But don’t worry if you don’t make it to the podium. Even players who don’t make it to the top three will still be rewarded with crystals, in-game loot, and bragging rights for hitting level 40 before the event wraps up. For the truly elite, there are special titles and achromatic crystals up for grabs—perfect for flaunting your speedrun prowess in the community.

All it takes to join the race is to create an alternate character from now until September 19th. So, if your idea of fun is turning leveling into an eSport, then fire up Tarisland and start your engines. Ready, set, grind!
