The Kindred Brings Sandbox Civilization Building To Steam Early Access

The Kindred is a voxel-based sandbox survival game from Persistent Studios and Nkidu Games that launched on Early Access today. Unlike other sandbox survival games, however, The Kindred is a strategy game that challenges players to keep an entire civilization of "Kin" alive. Players must build a city, craft items, hunt, farm, and just generally keep the Kin alive.

At present, the game features building, farming, animal breeding and feeding, crafting machinery, the ability for Kin to starve, and a system of wind power. Multiplayer is up and running, but it is currently unstable.

In the future, the game will feature a "complete lifecycle," modern tools such as chainsaws and jackhammers, multiple biomes, weather and seasons, and more. Early Access is expected to last no more than a year.
