Throne And Liberty Launches In South Korea And Struggles To Meet The Massive Demand

Years of development and teasing (and a major rebranding) has culminated in the Korean launch of no-longer-a-Lineage-game, Throne and Liberty. As you might expect from an extremely high-profile launch, the highly awaited MMORPG’s release was plagued by connection and server issues as hordes of players tried to login at once.

Developer NCSoft has acknowledged the issues and assures the community that the it’s working to increase server capacity in order to meet the overwhelming demand. Meanwhile, the game is still on track for its free-to-play release in the west sometime next year with Amazon Game Studios as its publisher. Hopefully, they’ll have better luck at managing the launch rush.

It doesn’t appear as if region-locking has been implemented (yet), so you can probably jump into the Korean version while waiting for its global release. Should you decide to go down that path, NCSoft dropped a video guide earlier this week to help get you up to speed on the basic gameplay systems and combat.
