Broadsword Games is finally getting ready to put the finishing touches on Ultima Online: New Legacy, four years after it was first announced. In preparation for the fresh start classic ruleset server’s launch, the studio is kicking off one final round of testing today alongside the classic MMORPG’s 27th anniversary celebration.

“As we look to the 27th anniversary of the launch of Ultima Online, this iconic game moves into its 28th year of production, and we are pleased to welcome everyone to build their legacy in Ultima Online: New Legacy,” the studio announced.

The New Legacy beta server will run for one week, and, in true testing fashion, progress from the previous eight beta weekends has been wiped clean. So if you’ve been participating, it’s time to start anew. This is a crucial final test ahead of the server’s official launch, tentatively expected in early October. Broadsword hasn’t confirmed a specific launch date yet, but players are hopeful for an early fall release.

Meanwhile, the studio is also touting a “full slate of events” on the existing servers for the coming months, giving veterans plenty to look forward to, including old favorites like Pumpkin Carving, the Huntmaster’s Challenge, and 27th Anniversary Collectibles. The fall event series will kick off with Shadow’s Awakening, eventually leading to new live events like Shattered Sanctum and Eclipsed Dawn.

If you want to try out the new ruleset, now’s your last chance to jump into the New Legacy beta and help shape its future.
