Gazillion Entertainment, Inc. was founded by Robert Hutter and co-founder John Romero in 2005 and was initially known as NR2B Research, Inc. before changing their name to Gazillion Entertainment in March 2009. The company is based in San Mateo, California, with other development studios located in California, Washington, and Colorado. They acquired NetDevil in July 2008, the development studio in-charge of developing the MMO Lego Universe. They also acquired The Amazing Society in the same year and Gargantuan Games in 2009. The company signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment games on March 17, 2009 which granted them exclusive rights to develop and publish Marvel games for 10 years. In 2011, they sold Lego Group their rights in the development of Lego Universe with most of the team working on the project transitioning over to Lego Group.
