Overview

Call of Duty: Warzone Overview

Drop down into the midst of the abandoned city of Verdansk solo or with your squad and fight it out with other operatives to the last squad in the newest addition to the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Warzone. Experience fast-paced 150-man battle royale matches set across a variety of urban environments including deserted buildings, narrow city streets, abandoned airports and stadiums, and tree-lined suburbs. Scavenge, loot, commandeer, and arm yourself to the teeth with an arsenal of real-world weapons, ammunition, gear, and vehicles to give you the edge over other operatives while you all try to outrun a cloud of poisonous gas that slowly encloses the city. Take on mini-missions called Contracts to earn cash which you can use to buy killstreaks, equipment, and a personally-customized loadout that can be dropped wherever you are in the city. Instantly redeploy when you die by winning the gladiator match in the Gulag or ask teammates to buy you back for a large sum of money. Take a break from the usual battle royale gameplay in the new Plunder mode where you’re only goal is to earn as much money as you can for your squad while other squads try to the same.

Call of Duty: Warzone Key Features:

  • 150-Man Battle Royale – more players means more chances that you’ll get to see action in and actually get a kill.
  • Real-World Weapons & Gear – an arsenal of accurately-modeled weapons, attachments, and gear can be found across the map from pistols and SMGs to assault rifles, LMGs, and sniper rifles.
  • Contract Missions – take on contract mini-missions during the match to earn cash that can be used to purchase killstreaks, armor plating, and personal loadout drops.
  • Personal Loadout Drops – customize your loadout just the way you like it and use your hard-earned cash to get it airdropped right on your doorstep.
  • Death Isn’t The End – win the Gulag prison gladiator fight when you die for the first time and get redeployed for free. You can also be bought back by your teammates for a rather large amount of cash.
  • Plunder Mode – a one-of-a-kind battle royale mode where three-man squads battle each other to earn, scavenge, and plunder as much cash as they can.

Development History / Background:

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play 3D standalone battle royale game developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software and published by Activision. Warzone comes as a free Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game mode but can be played without purchasing the game.

The gaming community first got wind of the game through several image and gameplay leaks on Reddit in February 2020 forcing Activision to slap anyone who posted or shared the leaks with copyright infringement claims and issuing subpoenas to Reddit to track down the original leakers. The game was officially launched less than a month later on March 10, 2020.

The game was downloaded by 6 million people during the first 24 hours of live service and reached the 15 million download mark 4 days after launch.
