Development History / Background:
Dune: Awakening was revealed on the first night of Gamescom 2022 with a cinematic trailer and several concept art images. Set in the imaginative universe of Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi novel, Dune: Awakening aspires to combine the survival gaming genre with a large, persistent world shared by thousands of players. Funcom, the Oslo, Norway based developer has experience with both genres. Conan Exiles (2018), is a popular entry in the survival genre while their earlier games such as Anarchy Online (2001), and Age of Conan (2008) were full fledged MMORPGs with support for thousands of concurrent players.
