Rumble Fighter Overview

In Rumble Fighter, players fight to win tournaments, complete story-driven cooperative missions, and spar in teams or individually. Players have access to a wide variety of equipment and costume pieces, accessories, and even skillsets that can be swapped out quickly between matches. With so much customization, players can easily build a character that suits their playstyle. Rumble Fighter is one of the few "brawler" / "fighting" MMOs and is lobby-based.

Rumble Fighter is a 3D Fighting MMO developed by Nimonix and published by GamesCampus. The game was released in the U.S. on August 2nd, 2007. Originally published by OGPlanet, GamesCampus was revealed in 2014 that they will be taking over as its publisher. On May 23, 2014, the original OGPlanet servers were taken down and the GamesCampus servers were launched on the same day. Similar to GetAmped 2 or Lost Saga, the gameplay in Rumble Fighters revolves around fighting in different arenas, achieving the highest scores or most kills, and becoming a better ranked fighter. On March 4, 2016, GamesCampus revealed that they would shut the game down and transfer service to Red Fox Games.

Starting Up

When first starting the game, players will choose their initial character class. At present, there are six classes, with five of them being available from the start: Striker, Soul Fighter, Elementalist, Alchemist, and Shaman. Once a player reaches level 20, the Android class also becomes available. Each of the five starting classes is available as male or female, while the Android class is solely female.

After choosing a class, players are free to explore the game at will, jumping into PvP, story quests, training, and more. By playing in the training mode, players are able to easily learn the controls for movement and fighting, special attacks, and the layouts of the multiplayer maps. Players move using the arrow keys, punch with X, kick with C, and guard with Z. Pressing space once or twice causes the player to jump or double jump, and V and B activate special skills. Using A or S, players can morph using equipped ExoCores, two of which can be equipped at any particular time. This gives players a different set of regular combos as well as special moves.

After some training, it is recommended that players attempt story missions as they learn to master the controls. Story missions are easier than PvP, will give beginning players more EXP and carats (the in-game currency), and will allow players to level and become more competitive from a PvP standpoint.

The First Few Levels

Leveling in Rumble Fighter is slow. While there isn’t the rush of quickly gaining levels like in GetAmped 2, it does leave players feeling like the item rewards given after every level are earned. Players are awarded vouchers for carats, sacred scrolls, accessories, keys for treasure chests, and more.

Levels are most easily gained through the Adventure mode’s story missions. These missions grant players the most experience compared to the time it takes to complete and rely on players finishing the level instead of how well they completed it. This allows players to become stronger before embarking on the more challenging PvP modes. Furthermore, the Adventure mode becomes a place to test out new ExoCores and sacred scrolls on moving targets.


The gameplay in Rumble Fighter is hectic. When eight players get together, each with a variety of ExoCores and sacred scrolls, it can be difficult to follow the immense amount of action happening on screen. To keep the PvP skill-based and to weed out lucky kills, many players of Rumble Fighter adhere to the unwritten rules of 1v1, even in team battles. In this way, each player faces off against one opponent and once one player wins they can fight against one other opponent. The community is a tight knit group so this rule is almost always followed.

In the vein of cooperative gameplay, players can engage in Adventure mode. In Adventure mode, players fight through waves of monsters and other obstacles, such as traps, to reach the boss monster. If players are killed or cannot defeat the boss monster within a time limit, players lose.

There are also other single-player modes. In Zombie mode, players face endless waves of zombies until they die or time runs out. In Survival mode, players face a number of NPC opponents and must defeat them all to beat this mode.

ExoCores and Sacred Scrolls

The two main methods of fighting come from ExoCores and Sacred Scrolls. Sacred Scrolls are a player’s main fighting style. For the most part, they take the form of real-world fighting styles such as karate, taekwondo, muay thai, and more. This will be a player’s fighting style for a majority of matches and with dozens of different styles players will always have options for their playstyle.

ExoCores are even more powerful than Sacred Scrolls. These transform players in a variety of ways and give them powerful special attacks. There are also dozens of ExoCores, and players can equip two at a time, though they can only activate one at a time.

Using Sacred Scrolls and ExoCores, players can customize their character with thousands of combinations, keeping the game fresh for those willing to try something new or looking to find the perfect combination for their playstyle.


There are two main types of PvP in Rumble Fighter: Rumble Mode and PvP.

In regular PvP, players can either battle 1v1, team battle, or free-for-all. These modes are the bread and butter of Rumble Fighter and the modes players will most likely play. They are straight forward deathmatches, where the last person or team standing is the winner.

Rumble Mode, on the other hand, offers a variety of gameplay options. There are five different types of Rumble Mode: King of the Hill, Moving Screen, Caged Beast, Potion Battle, and Arena.

In King of the Hill, players battle to stand at the highest spot on the map. If there is more than one person at the top, the first person who arrived gains control. Players that are killed respawn after a certain amount of time, and whoever holds control longest is the winner. Moving Screen is a variation of King of the Hill. All players start at the bottom, and move up toward the top. Players must match the pace of the screen and those outside of the screen lose automatically. The pressure is high when trying to match the screen’s pace while fighting off other players.

In Caged Beast, players form two teams and fight in 1v1 duels. When one player dies, the cage opens and the next player from their team enters the fight. After 60 seconds, all cages open and the battle becomes a free-for-all melee. In Potion Battle, players must pick up and drink potions found around the map. Drinking potions makes players vulnerable, and if attacked while drinking a potion, players will drop the potion. Whoever drinks the most potions during the match wins. Finally, in Arena, players fight in teams to reach twelve kills. If knocked out, players will respawn after five seconds with full health in a random location.

Cash Shop

The Cash Shop in Rumble Fighter is easily the biggest downside to the game. Players are able to buy sacred scrolls and ExoCores, as well as equipment that provide large stat boosts. Some scrolls even allow for combos that regular players cannot use. So while skill is a large aspect of the game, players willing to spend money will usually be able to come out on top.

Final Verdict - Good

Pay-to-win issues aside, Rumble Fighter is a solid, fun game. The fact that there are not only cooperative options, but even single-player options, keeps the game accessible to more than just the PvP elite. There are tons of customization options, and Sacred Scrolls and ExoCores provide a lot of enjoyment to acquire and test them all out. If players are willing to invest the time, grind through the early levels, get a hold of the gameplay, Rumble Fighter is a game that can provide plenty of entertainment.

Rumble Fighter is a casual fighting MMO originally developed by the South Korean game developer Nominix. The game was originally called Gem Fighter, but the international version is known as Rumble Fighter. The game originally launched in North America through OGPlanet on August 2007, but the license was later revoked and OGPlanet shut down their service on May 23, 2014. Once the OGPlanet version shut down, GamesCampus licensed the game for North America and Europe as "Rumble Fighter: Unleashed." Rumble Fighter is Nominix's only game and it continues to provide updates for the game. The game used to be published in South Korea through WeMade Entertainment.
