Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Early Access Begins, Game Nearly Hits Covid Era Peak Playerbase

Final Fantasy XIV's early access for its latest expansion kicked off today and with it the game's playerbase surged to nearly an all time high on Steam. The 24 hour peak hit 91,883, a few thousand shy of its 95,102 all time high hit during the covid era. Keep in mind these figures are for Steam players only. The game is available off Steam as well on its own client.

Early access is limited to those who pre-ordered the latest expansion. Those who didn't pre-order it can begin playing on July 2. As with previous expansions, all major datacenters are congested, which means players will likely experience long queues when trying to enter the game.
