Perfect World China recently released a new team brawler called Ultimate Weapon. While the game is currently only available in China, and requires a Chinese ID number to play, MMOCulture has given us a quick look at the game and its features.

Ultimate Weapon is a 3v3 or 8v8 team brawler that appears to be focused on Deathmatch-type gameplay. None of the modes feature traditional MOBA gameplay elements like lanes and minions.

There are currently 29 characters to choose from, each with their own weapons and abilities. Like many other character-based online games, characters and skins can be purchased with either real money or an in-game currency.

A card system is unlocked at level 20, allowing players to equip upwards of three cards to each hero. These cards provide various passive bonuses. The examples given were "increased critical rate, increased HP regeneration (which decreases after getting hit), increased damage for 2 seconds after causing damage, and many more."

It is unknown at this time whether or not Perfect World will opt to localize Ultimate Weapon for markets outside of China.

Matt's Take:

While the graphics seem nice, each character's movement and animations seem awkward at times. There's also a certain level of fluidity that seems to be lacking in Ultimate Weapon's combat. It seems that quite a few attacks that root the character in place for the duration of the attack while simultaneously being fairly slow. At one point in the video, a character is launched into the air by the person playing, only to be locked in place in midair while the character attacking them carries out their painstakingly slow attack.

It's a game I would certainly be interested in trying, but it also looks as if it could have used a bit more polish in terms of combat.
