Albion Online Unveils Upcoming New Solo Player Instance And New City Hub

Sandbox Interactive continues to work on making the core PvP content in Albion Online more accessible to smaller groups and solo players in the PvP sandbox MMORPG’s next major content update. The highlight of the update is a brand new solo PvE and PvP instance called The Mists.

The Mists is made up of new regions that players will be able to through randomly appearing portals much like the Roads of Avalon. Each entrance will only allow one player to enter before it disappears, each instanced region in The Mists, however, will have multiple entrances to allow for chance encounters between solo players prowling the instance.

The Mists is also inhabited by new creatures that drop new artifacts which can then be used to craft new items. The said artifacts can only be obtained from mobs in the Mists, adding a whole new dimension to crafting, trading, and PvE.

Also arriving with the update, are highly-requested changes to the Roads of Avalon to make it easier for smaller groups of players to safely navigate and explore the area. With the update’s release, establishing Hideouts in the Roads will be easier but it will be more difficult to defend and maintain control of an entire Hideout region. The Roads will also be getting a visual overhaul with the update.

To facilitate easier access to both the Mists and the Roads of Avalon, the update will also open the doors to a new social hub called The City in the Mists. The new city will have no physical location but can be accessed through portals that appear from time to time in both the Mists and the Roads, although Sandbox says that not every player will be able to enter the mysterious city. It’s unclear what this exactly means, but it could be some form of level-gating.

The City in the Mists will offer instant access to the Mists, the Roads of Avalon, and other small-group content and is meant to serve as a base for more advanced solo and group players.

Sandbox Interactive hasn’t announced a release date for the update yet but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.
