Get ready to bring your Call of Duty experience to your tabletops! Arcane Wonders is set to release the official Call of Duty board game in 2024, with a Kickstarter campaign to launch later this year. According to the press release, players can become elite Operators and engage in battle with unique combat skills and signature weapons. The game will offer iconic maps, intense game modes, and team-based objectives to excite players.

The big question is: can the board game offer the same excitement as the action-packed firefights that the game has been known for? Probably not, but what's surprising about the announcement is that Call of Duty, the most valuable video game series of all time, needs a crowdfunding campaign.

Robert Geistlinger, the president of Arcane Wonders, explained that Kickstarter is a common practice in the board gaming industry, and an officially licensed game requires proper tools and platforms to give the best version of the game to the fans. While the terms of the deal between Arcane Wonders and Activision are unknown, the Call of Duty board game is an official product, and Activision must have had a significant involvement.

Seeing a massive corporation use Kickstarter, which initially opened the door to success for small studios and unknown projects is disappointing to say the least. After all, Activision's Modern Warfare 2 reboot earned over $800 million in its opening weekend in November 2022.

That being said, big video game-to-board game Kickstarters like Monster Hunter World, Wolfenstein, and Cyberpunk 2077 have been successful. The Call of Duty board game campaign will likely follow suit. Whether or not it captures the same adrenaline rush as the video game, fans of the franchise are sure to enjoy the official tabletop experience.
