Dark And Darker Moves Up Its Next Scheduled Server Wipe To October 26

Dark and Darker players are probably used to the fact that they’ll lose all of their items and gear every few months or so as scheduled server wipes are a mainstay of the early access medieval fantasy extraction game. In fact, the servers have already been wiped twice in as many months.

Players looking forward to at least a few more weeks to work their way up the leaderboards before their progress is reset will be disappointed to know that developer Ironmace has moved up the date for the next server wipe to October 26th.

“In order to make our progress towards the desired direction more accurate and expedited, through internal discussions we have decided to conclude the current temporary leaderboard a bit earlier than originally planned, and also advance the wipe schedule,” the studio explained on Discord.

The upcoming wipe will pave the way for the release of Hotfix 18 on the same day, which promises a boatload of changes and tweaks based on recent testing results and player feedback. Patch 2, which was initially scheduled to roll out in early November has subsequently been delayed to mid-November to give the developers time to gather data and feedback on the changes.

The silver lining is that players won’t lose all of their progress. Only the leaderboards and player inventories will be reset and they’ll get to keep their characters and level progression after the wipe.

Normally, server wipes are expected to happen every three months or so at the end of every season. Since the game is still in early access, wipes will be occurring much more frequently as the developers continue to roll out more balance adjustments and game-changing updates.
