DarkScape Is Shutting Down On March 28th

RuneScape's experiment in emergent PvP is over. After five months online, Jagex has made the decision to shut down DarkScape's servers on March 28th. While there is a "small, hardcore community" in DarkScape, most players went back to either Old School RuneScape or RuneScape 3.0. As Jagex put it, DarkScape's community is "just not big enough to warrant ongoing development." Jagex concludes that the changes made in DarkScape "weren't enough to make it different enough to develop its own player base for the longer term."

All players who logged in at least 20 times and spent at least 10 hours in-game between January 1st and now will receive one month of RuneScape membership. All players who have spent at least 10 hours in-game since launch will receive "special cape" in RuneScape 3.0.
