Elder Scrolls Online Previews Necrom’s Telvanni Peninsula And Apocrypha Zones
Elder Scrolls Online's latest expansion, Necrom, is almost upon us, and ZeniMax is giving us a sneak peek into what we can expect with a new blog post previewing the new Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha zones.
The Telvanni Peninsula, will be familiar to longtime fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise and the game itself. The environment has towering mushrooms and is reminiscent of the neighboring regions without the grab ash-storm driven vibe of Vvardenfell. The hub of the peninsula is Necrom, a city of the dead and a spiritual hub for Dark Elves across Morrowind.
“Due to its importance, Necrom enjoys a kind of neutrality when it comes to the political machinations of the Great Houses,” ZeniMax explains. “[It’s] a holy city for Dark Elves of all houses and affiliations. All acknowledge that such a place belongs to the Dunmer, and the Keepers of the Dead—the order that maintains the city—have fought tooth and nail to fend off the few conquerors foolish enough to try to claim it.”
Meanwhile, Apocrypha is a whole different beast, a Daedric realm ruled by the Daedric Prince of Fate, Hermaeus Mora. This otherworldly place is riddled with abyssal pools, mysterious books, and creepy tentacles. It’s also the source of all the slimy green-tinged Necrom screenshots that we’ve been seeing since the expansion’s announcement earlier this year.
“Daedra abound in Apocrypha, as in any Daedric realm, with the most numerous being the floating Seekers–archivists of the endless library,” the studio reveals. “Lurkers also slouch and squelch through the abyssal pools of Apocrypha. Adventurers can discover that these heavyweight soldiers defend Mora's secrets at all costs.”
