Elder Scrolls Online Tweaks Combat Further In Next Week’s PTS Update

Now that Elder Scrolls Online players have had over a week to test out Update 35 for themselves on the public test server, ZeniMax is now taking time to address their feedback, particularly in regard to the combat changes coming with the free base game update.

Since the update rolled out on the PTS last week, the studio has been bombarded by complaints on the significant nerfs made to both DPS and DoT skills. Next week’s PTS build will be addressing some of those concerns by reverting the duration and frequency of static heal-over-time and damage-over-time skills, like Spear Shards and Wall of Elements, to values closer to those in the live build. Sticky abilities, like Fire Breath and Lightning form, however, will continue to have longer durations and decreased potency as originally planned.

“It is our hope these new standards better differentiate the gameplay realities these skills have, reinforcing their strengths and weaknesses, while making them easier to engage with in some ways than compared to what’s currently on Live (easier to manage “sticky” effects, and overall, significantly less cost per second drains),” said ZeniMax.

The team is also planning adjustments for the Sorcerer and Warden classes before Update 35 launches in August. “We will continue to monitor feedback and act accordingly where deemed necessary, so please continue to provide constructive takes and discussions,” said the devs. “A friendly reminder that providing data always helps us far more than anecdotal feedback, though both are still welcome.”

Update 35 launches alongside the Lost Depths DLC on August 22nd on PC/Mac and Stadia and on September 6th on PlayStation and Xbox.
