Embers Adrift has made some improvements to its combat system with the release of its August update, dubbed Power of the Ember Veins. Fights in the group-centric PvE MMORPG should now feel more fluid with quicker ability executions and enhanced animations.

“With the aim of improving the feels of combat without drastically changing the formula, we have enhanced our execution pipeline to better support instant executions,” developer Stormhaven Studios explained. “With this improved tech in place we have reduced a number of ability execution times. We have also improved the timing of most ability animations (or replaced them all together) to better align with these new executions times.”

The update also added the promised hunting log that tracks how many monsters of each type a player has killed. The new feature should not only appeal to grinders but to completionists as well with exclusive titles and permanent buffs granted to those who reach specific kill counts for each creature type.

Other notable additions and changes include a new Ember Vein for level 40-ish players, three new quests, armor weight tweaks, and enhanced visuals for Ember Veins, Ruptures, and Drifts. The team also reported ongoing work on a new Linux client that promises to be far more stable and user-friendly.

Details can be found in the full patch notes on the Embers Adrift official website. You can also check out a visual overview of the update in the new trailer below.
