Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Gets Off To A Rocky Start But Manages To Pull In Over 1.5M Players

fall guys ultimate knockout obstacle course bannerMediatonic and Devolver Digital’s chaotic multiplayer obstacle course, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, got off to a rocky start (Surprise! Surprise!) when they tried to quietly bring the PC servers online and was promptly swamped by at least 120k players in just a few hours.

The unexpected influx of players forced the developers to beef up their servers to keep up with the demand. The game also suffered from extremely long matchmaking times which, again, required backend work to be done, a task that took longer than expected.

The devs also tried to stealthily bring the PlayStation 4 servers back online which didn’t fare so well as over 100k players flocked to the new game forcing the developers to temporarily suspend new account creations on the console version.

To make matters worse, the game fell victim to review bombing on Steam which was fixed within an hour with positive review bombings from the game’s fans. All in all, it was a crazy night for the development team who managed to pull through with over 1.5 million players recorded in the first 24 hours.
