FFXIV Dev Blog Details UI Improvements in Store for Patch 4.1

With Patch 4.1 fast approaching, Final Fantasy XIV's Dev Team has posted another update on their Developers' Blog. While there is still no concrete launch date on Patch 4.1, my personal money is on either October 3rd, or October 10th, since those two days line up with Square Enix's statement of "Early October" - and FFXIV doesn't push content patches on any day aside from Thursday. Enough of that, however - lets get right into the QoL changes coming in!

  • The chat mode you were last in will be the one you default to when you log in - logging out in party chat means you log back in with party chat selected
  • The countdown until Chocobos are de-summoned is now visible in the party list
  • Minions and Chocobos can now be summoned at the same time!
  • Improvements to the Party Finder, as well as a teaser sentence - more info will be available in the next Live Letter!
  • Desynthesis skill needed to desynth an item will now be shown on the item
  • "Duty Actions" are now general actions! They can be set to a hotbar, and controller players have the option of pressing L2 or R2 + R3 to execute them!
  • Lastly, debuffs will no longer have a cap on how many can be displayed! Or at least - the cap has been increased.

The developers' blog also showed off a UI with a missing chat box - something that has never been toggleable before! Remember folks, the next Letter from the Producer LIVE takes place next week, on September 29th! We'll see you there, and I'll be personally covering it as information comes in!
