Final Fantasy XIV Announces Live Letter XL, Free Log-in Campaign!

Final Fantasy XIV's Stormblood Expansion has been, by most accounts, a solid success. It sold well, really expanded FFXIV's name across the internet, but even a massive expansion only has so much content before it all gets completed. In fact, you can even plot FFXIV's cyclical playerbase - players join during major patches, and then they leave until the next major patch.

Well, those of you holding your breath for the next major patch can finally take a breather! Letter from the Producer LIVE, Part XL, has been set for Friday, December 15th, 2017. It'll premier at 3:00 AM PST, and will be simulcast on Twitch, Youtube, and Niconico Live. The topics Yoshi-P and Crew will be showing off are a Preview of Patch 4.20, Part 1, and some Miscellaneous Announcements - usually merchandise for sale in Japan.

Additionally, FFXIV is also running a free login campaign! Any player who has been inactive (see: without an active subscription) for 30 days can log on to play FFXIV for free! Running December 1st, until January 4th, players with inactive accounts will be credited with four days of playtime. Of course, there is a lot of fine print around such a campaign.

  • The free login period begins as soon as you hit "Log in" on the Square Enix launcher, not when you log into the game.
  • Players who are logged in when their free period ends are forcibly logged out.
  • Players with multiple service accounts registered cannot get this free time if one account is active.
  • Service accounts that have been canceled or suspended (See: Banned or Perma-banned) cannot participate.
    • It is unknown if this means you have EVER been suspended, or currently have a suspension.
  • Buying a subscription to FFXIV during the free login period will remove the remaining free play time from your account
  • Players cannot log on if they have not purchased Final Fantasy XIV
  • Players who have a license to play FFXIV on multiple platforms (PS4, PC, Mac OS), can log on freely
  • If you have multiple service accounts, the free login period is only applied to the first service account that is logged on. You cannot participate in the Free Login Campaign with more than one service account at a time. If requirements are met for a second service account to log on, but the log on fails, Square Enix asks that you wait until the free login period ends on the first service account before logging on with the second.
