Hi-Rez Studios Announces New Independent Spin-Off Studio Called Prophecy Games
2020 is shaping up to be the year of new game development studios as another one pops up in North America. Hi-Rez Studios has just announced a new spin-off independent game development studio called Prophecy Games. The newly-announced studio is based in Alpharetta, GA and is made up of Hi-Rez veterans with Hi-Rez Founder Erez Goren himself at the helm.
According to the official press release, the new studio will focus on developing free-to-play top-down strategy games. “Hi-Rez has spent 15 years developing fast-paced multiplayer shooter and competitive action games like SMITE, Paladins, Realm Royale, and Rogue Company,” says Hi-Rez. “Hi-Rez’s sole focus will remain on these games, and other similar 1st- and 3rd person competitive action games we might make. By contrast, Prophecy Games will create top-down strategy games that are very different from a typical ‘Hi-Rez’ title. This spin-off allows each team to focus on building their core capabilities and communities within these separate genres.”
