IndieGoGo announced today that it has partnered with equity crowdfunding platform MicroVentures to launch a new equity crowdfunding portal. With the launch of this portal, IndieGoGo users will be given an opportunity to invest in various "startups and growing companies directly." However, while the opportunities will be listed on both IndieGoGo and MicroVentures, the transactions themselves will be handled by MicroVentures.

IndieGoGo CEO David Mandelbrot had the following to say about the announcement.

Our mission has always been to make it easier for individuals to raise money for projects they are passionate about and this is the latest way we’re helping entrepreneurs access the financing they need while also giving backers the chance to invest in new companies. Since Indiegogo first launched we’ve wanted to offer these sort of investments, and we’re very excited to be officially giving the millions of people who visit our platform every month the chance to get involved with equity crowdfunding opportunities.

MicroVentures CEO Bill Clark also provided a statement.

When we started MicroVentures in 2009, the idea was to let everyone invest. At the time, the regulations were too stringent so we focused on providing venture capital access to accredited investors at fractions of the investment minimums previously required. We pride ourselves in our rigorous investment screening process and institutional quality due diligence. We are excited to partner with Indiegogo to bring that same level of due diligence and support to all investors.

The launch of this portal is significant to the MMO market because ArtCraft Entertainment, the developer of Crowfall, is one of the first four companies to be listed. You can now invest in ArtCraft directly, in addition to participating in crowdfunding efforts that are available on the official website. Investments are required to be a minimum of $100 and, as of this writing, the ambitious MMORPG developer has raised $4503 with 63 days left.
