League of Legends Snowdown Showdown Arrives
Snowdown is upon us in League of Legends’ holiday event lasting until January 7th of next year. As usual with their large events, League of Legends comes packing with new themed skins and the ability to grab skins from their limited time legacy vault. Bard and Syndra are receiving new, snow day skins on sale only until the end of 12/14. Gnar, Singed, Malzahar and Ziggs will see their legacy skins up for grabs as well for a limited amount of time. New limited time only icons are available for purchase with RP or IP, as well as an adorable penguin ward to guide your way through Summoner’s Rift.
League of Legends is also implementing one new “mini game” and game mode during their Snowdown event. At the cost of 100 IP each, snowballs can be thrown during game and anyone hit by it will get to keep one of the four randomly selected icons and a one-win IP boost.
The limited game mode for this special event is Legend of the Poro King, set in the Howling Abyss map. Summoners have the chance of summoning the mighty Poro King who will give your team heavy benefits such as AoE damage, healing and mana regeneration. A new summoner spell is added called poro toss, which works very similar to the snowball on ARAM maps. If a poro toss is landed ten times on your team, the mighty Poro King will be summoned to aid your team in battle. The poros are also receiving special treatment this Snowdown in the form of poro skins that will decorate your poro buddies in this limited game mode. Poro wards new and old will also be available to purchase in the shop.
In the spirit of giving, League of Legends encourages to buy a gift that can keep on giving. Staring on December 23, if you receive or buy a legendary or ultimate skin, a free mystery skin will unlock which can possibly unlock another legendary or ultimate, triggering the effect again. Paired with the limited shop item of self-mystery gifting, allowing summoners to snag a randomly selected unowned champion, skin, ward or icon, lucky summoners can stack multiple rewards this holiday season.
