Los Angeles Comic Con 2020 Has Been Cancelled

The in-person event was initially planned for September but was rescheduled to December 11-13 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A few weeks ago, event organizer Comikaze Entertainment insisted that the event was still a go for December in spite of the pandemic but were finally forced to cancel the event when California Governor Gavin Newsom declined to provide reopening guidelines for theme parks and, by extension, live events and other large gatherings.

“We know some of you questioned WHY we were trying to have a show in 2020,” explained the organizers. “It was solely because our fan and exhibitor surveys asked us to try. We made every effort to change our event so it could be both fun and safe, and were awaiting guidelines from the Governor to determine if that was possible.”

“Without guidelines, there is no way for LA County, the City, or event organizers like us to know if the plans and changes we made to be safe will be right, or enough,” they added. “So with that new direction from the State, we are rescheduling.”

According to the organizers, next year’s L.A. Comic Con is scheduled for September 24-26, 2021 and all tickets purchased for the now-cancelled December event will roll over to 2021 unless ticket-holders request for a refund. As of the moment, there’s no news on whether a virtual event will be held for 2020 or if the organizers will be forgoing the event entirely this year.
