Microsoft Is Finally Allowing Xbox Live To Go Cross-Platform, Rocket League To Be The First Fully Cross-Platform ID@Xbox Title

Rocket League has been cross-platform between PC and PS4 for some time now, but Xbox One players were originally told that they would not be able to play with either PC or PS4 players. Today, Director of ID@Xbox Chris Charla announced that that would be changing soon. One of ID@Xbox's GDC announcements this year is the ability to connect games in a manner that allows them to play cross-platform with Xbox One players.

Cross-platform play between Windows 10 and Xbox One will be a native addition to the ID@Xbox toolkit. From there, developers are then allowed to create their own solutions for what Charla refers to as "cross-network play." This will allow developers to, for example, connect to the PlayStation Network for cross-platform play.

Rocket League will be the first game to make use of these new features. Xbox One players will soon be able to play with PC and PS4 players. Hopefully, more games will follow behind it soon.
