The Unbound Brings Permadeath and Move-to-Cast Combat to Torchlight: Infinite

Torchlight: Infinite is opening a new permadeath server called The Unbound on August 20 at 7 PM PDT. The global Afterlight Hardcore server launch brings high-risk hardcore rules alongside combat and quality-of-life changes.

The Unbound is a dedicated hardcore mode built around permanent death consequences. The update includes new mechanics, returning content and additional changes planned for launch.

What's confirmed so far

• Launch window: The Unbound goes live globally on August 20 at 7 PM PDT on the Afterlight Hardcore server, with permanent death enforced.
• Free compasses: Permanent free compasses will be available to all players across progression stages, providing access to map modifiers.
• Unlimited Destiny resets: Players can reset and reassign Destiny board loadouts without the seasonal limits described for earlier play.
• Move-to-cast combat: Most active skills can be channeled or cast while moving, removing the previous stop-and-cast limitation for melee and spell builds.
• Super Time Transition Capsule: The returning item can create a level 86 character with the main story completed. It requires an existing level 86-plus character on the account for the current season and hardcore mode, and works only on official seasonal hardcore and solo self-found hardcore servers.
• Hardcore rewards: Hidden rewards, including limited cosmetics and progression trophies, are available only through The Unbound server.

The move-to-cast change is intended to make movement, kiting and boss dodging more fluid while expanding build flexibility. Unlimited Destiny resets also allow players to adjust loadouts for different encounters without the stated seasonal restrictions.

The available information does not promise that these systems will carry over to softcore play. Additional unannounced mechanical tweaks are expected at launch, and full patch details are scheduled for release shortly before the server goes live.
