Mortal Online 2 servers are still struggling to cope with the massive influx of players since the medieval sandbox MMORPG launched last week and players aren’t happy. According to developer Star Vault, the number of players who bought into the game was much larger than they had anticipated compared to those who participated in last fall’s stress test.

“After a much bigger release than last year’s stress tests projected, Star Vault has given free game time to Mortal Online 2 players by suspending monthly subscriptions as they address recent server issues. Bolstered by the expertise of a third party group of networking consultants, new hires and with devs working round the clock, long term fixes for issues players have been experiencing on login and when traveling to Myrland will be implemented in a few short days.”

The team reports that they’ve sold over 110,000 copies which secured them a spot on Steam’s Top Sellers list over the weekend. Star Vault CEO Henrik Nyström says that he’s hoping to hit 300,000 monthly players someday and surpass CCP Game’s popular sci-fi sandbox EVE Online. As of this writing, the game sits at an all-time peak of 9,657 concurrent players and a 24-hour peak of 8,867 players.

Meanwhile, the game’s Discord continues to be flooded by complaints over server issues and long queues as well as requests for refunds.
