New World: Aeternum Open Beta And Pre-Download Begins This Week
The cursed island of Aeternum beckons once more, as New World’s standalone revamp, New World: Aeternum, throws open its gates for open beta testing this week.
Mark your calendars, because the pre-load for the open beta starts on September 11th at 9 a.m. PDT. No need for fancy invitations or mystical rituals – if you’re on a PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, you can download the beta client and dive in when it launches on September 13th at 9 a.m. PDT. This is a cross-play beta, so grab your friends across different platforms and prepare to conquer (or at least explore) Aeternum together.
The open beta isn’t just about testing the game though – you can also snag some sweet loot for the official launch on October 15th. Just by participating in the open beta, you’ll earn the “Aeternian Trailblazer” title – a badge of honor for those brave enough to face the island’s challenges early.
On top of that, there are exclusive gear sets waiting to be claimed as you level up during the beta. Hitting levels 10, 15, 20, and 25 will unlock new pieces, giving you a head start on looking fierce come launch day. It’s important to note, however, that rewards are tied to the platform you play on during the beta. So, if you plan to be a PC warrior on launch, make sure to join the PC open beta test.
The open beta build will also throw a variety of activities and content your way. Once you reach Level 20, you’ll be able to test your PvP prowess in the thrilling 3v3 Arenas. If you prefer PvE content and dungeon-delving, you can also tackle the Amrine Excavation Expedition with your friends or newfound allies that you meet during the playtest.
Level 17 unlocks the ability to join one of Aeternum’s factions, adding a layer of social intrigue to your adventures. You can also try out the new mount system for a more efficient (and stylish) way to traverse the island. And for the truly competitive souls, there are even Influence Races, open-world PvP events that are designed to test your teamwork and battle skills.
The open beta concludes on September 16th at 9 a.m. PDT, giving you a few glorious days to explore Aeternum and experience the revamped New World.
